Jatoli Shiv Temple, Solan

Himachal is land of Gods and Solan is the district headquarters of Solan district, which is largest Municipal Council of Himachal Pradesh. This place is neither too hot nor too cold.  Jatoli got its name from the long Jata (hair) that Lord Shiva has. it is Asia’s highest Shiv temple, this shrine is indeed an architectural marvel. It is one of the famous holy destinations of Solan which attract a large number of tourists and is only six or seven Kilometers from the Solan city.

It is one of the oldest temples of Lord Shiv where an ancient linga is the also placed since a long time. Multiple stories are associated with this temple. It is believed that the temple was once the resting place of Lord Shiva.

The temple is created in typical Southern-Dravidian styledesign and is created of 3 consecutive pyramids. On the first pyramid, one will see the image of Lord Ganeshwhereas on second pyramid there’s a sculpture of Shesh Naag. Jatoli shiv Temple holds the tag of being the highest temple in Asia; it took 39 years to finishthe construction of the temple.

On the northeast corner of the temple, there’s a water tankknown as ‘Jal Kund’ thatis considered as pious because the holy stream Ganga. The water of this tank is allegedto possess some medicinal qualities that can treat skin diseases. there’s a cave within the temple whereswami Krishnananda Paramhans ji resided. This ancient temple is known for its annual fair, that is conducted during the pageant of Mahashivratri. a number of devotees gather in the temple to offer prayers.
